The Worms Crawl In, the Worms Crawl Out...
The Station Super Machine has been actin' up, so we ran a virus check this weekend, which shed light on a sorry state of affairs. She's  contracted SunOS/BoxPoison.worm, an instance or two of an un-clicked SirCam worm, and just a dash of the CodeRed worm for a delightful after-taste.

So, bought a router for that firewall action, gonna slap on some full-time anti-virus software, and will be re-installing Win2000 + patches and service packs, all after formatting the hard disk. Yah! Three cheers for viruses! Hip-hip...

Circle Gets the Square
The prospect for a sequel to Final Fantasy: Spirits Within is lookin' a might grim these days. Square announced that they are closing their film division and will focus on what they know best: them video games. Financially, Spirits Within was a loser, generating a paltry $30 million at the box office - far short of the $80-90 million expectations (I hear tell production costs ran over $100 million).

Beautiful visuals + screwball story = poor box office.

At least we still have the "Special Edition" DVD multi-disc set to look forward to later this month. Dig the highlights:

DISC 1:
? Two feature-length commentaries from various artists and developers.
? Isolated score with commentary by composer Elliot Goldenthal
? Storyboard/Playblast selects of the film with optional filmmaker commentary or subtitled factoids
? Widescreen anamorphic format

DISC 2:
? Original interactive documentary
? Final Fantasy "Thriller" Music Video
? Alternate opening sequence
? Mini-movie: Aki's Dream
? Trailer exploration
? Multiple workshops including: Seven in-depth character files, three vehicle scale comparisons, face wraps, character morphs, and compositing builds
? Matte art exploration
? Sets and props
? Final Fantasy Shuffler: Become the filmmaker by re-editing a pivotal scene from the film. Complete the edit and play back your final cut.
? Virtual tour of (the now defunct) Square Pictures
