You've got to listen to me. Elementary chaos theory tells us that all robots will eventually turn against their masters and run amok, in an orgy of blood and the kicking and the biting with the metal teeth and the hurting and shoving. The Episode One Premiere was disguised as a weekend-long event at the Plano Convention Center. The whole operation was run by the masterful Dave Stevens of Sci-Fi Expo.com.

The show featured a small amount of those SW toy dealer tables (hawkin' some pricey goods) along with the first public display of Texas Instrument's DLP Cinema (all-digital, no film). The DLP presentation we caught was projected in a large conference hall at an ear-splitting volume. Not the best atmosphere to judge the picture quality of this bantling format. Months later I was able to catch Toy Story II in DLP at a proper theater and was extremely impressed. Without a doubt the future of cinema.

The life-size Battle Droids and R2 unit were built by noted customizer Gary Weaver II. The head-rotating action on R2 was glorious.
