Inside
E3PO
E3 2001 wrapped up this past weekend and the almighty
Nintendo is poised to retake the wheel of the bus known
as the home console market. Early
reports
indicate Nintendo dominated the show with grand demonstrations of their
super-bad GameCube
console (due to fly off the shelves this November). The GameCube will launch as a "games
only" system - no wussy DVD movie playback to be found
onboard this mean machine. While some find this to be a black
mark against the console, you gotta respect Nintendo's
laser-focus on their area of expertise - the games. As Satoro
Iwata, director of strategic planning for Nintendo, put it:
"I believe we know more about what makes games great than
anyone else." Right own, Iwata san.

BMWFilms.com is
hosting a series of short films collectively known as The
Hire. About a guy drivin' a car and getting into adventures and such. Produced by David Fincher, each film in the series is created by a different "award winning" director (Ang Lee, Guy Ritchie, etc).
The first film, by John Frankenheimer, was pretty average. The second, most recent film, by Ang Lee is well worth the
download however. Viewers are also invited to use the official BMW Interactive Film Player, which allows for some nifty DVD-like functionality - director commentaries and the like.

Bruce Campbell is
on the open road to promote If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a "B" Movie
Actor. Should be a solid book, Bruce strikes me as a guy
who has it pretty well figured out. Check yon
official site to see if the tour'll grace your neck of the woods.
While
at Campbell Online, read about the "autograph
thing".
The
Trailer Within
Yet another new Final Fantasy trailer over at Apple.com,
where you can
choke down a glorious 37MB full-screen version. Yeah.
Finally saw one of these trailers on the big screen - tagged with The Mummy Returns over the weekend. Thinkin' now that FF:TSW could be a silent movie with no plot, dialogue, or music - just
righteous CGI in motion - and we'll be happy happy campers. Fully amped for the eye-candy.
Mummy Returns was check-yer-brain-at-the-door fun, I reckon. The
not-so Special Effects were "poor in abundance, famished at a feast".
